Étienne Jacques, born in Thetford Mines, is married and the father of three. He completed the International Master Program in Practicing Management (IMPM) at Lancaster University Management School in England. He also holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Laval University.
Mr. Jacques began working at Alcan in 1984 at the Vaudreuil Plant and earlier in his career held several positions in Process Engineering at the Jonquière Plant. After completing a mandate in Ireland, Mr. Jacques was promoted to supervisory and superintendent positions at Jonquière and Shawinigan Works, among others.
From 2002 to 2004, Étienne Jacques held the position of Plant Manager at Shawinigan Works and from 2004 to 2007 he was Plant Manager at Aluminium Dunkerque in France. In 2007, Mr. Jacques was named Vice-President of Global Carbon Business, Rio Tinto Alcan Primary Metal. In that capacity, he was responsible for anode and cathode operations in the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Canada.
On April 1, 2010, Mr. Jacques was named Vice-President of Rio Tinto Alcan Primary Metal Saguenay – Lac-St-Jean. He is now Chief Operations Officer, Rio Tinto Alcan Primary Metal North America.
Mr. Jacques sits on several Boards, and is a member of the Fondation de l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. He acts as an executive director of CORHAM organization and administrator of the ABI Owners’ Committee.
